Simone Pengue è un giornalista e divulgatore scientifico svizzero e italiano. La sua formazione inizia nella fisica atomica con una laurea triennale presso l’Università degli Studi dell’Insubria (sede di Como) e un Master all’Università di Friborgo, ma prosegue nella biofisica attraverso un PhD all’Università di Basilea, conseguito nel 2023. Durante il dottorato comincia le attività di divulgazione scientifica professionale e, dopo aver pubblicato i primi articoli per il pubblico generalista, vince il Prix Média Newcomer 2021 con il documentario Dati dimenticati: gli scarti della scienza. Dal 2023 si dedica a tempo pieno alla divulgazione grazie alla collaborazione regolare con il sito Ticino Scienza e con la Radiotelevisione della Svizzera Italiana (RSI), scrivendo anche per Horizon, Swissinfo, le Accademie Svizzere delle Scienze e delle Arti, Il Corriere del Ticino e altre piattaforme svizzere. Nel 2023 ha co-fondato l’associazione non-profit Compass Mind Switzerland, della quale è presidente, che promuove la salute mentale e l’inclusività nell’accademia svizzera. Come ricercatore indipendente si occupa di studiare i parallelismi tra scienza e letteratura italiana, pubblicando articoli peer-reviewed e capitoli di libri su autori quali Francesco Petrarca, Dante Alighieri e Dino Buzzati.
